IX Seminar on Applied Research in Mytiliculture

On 22nd October 2024, the IX Seminar on Applied Research in Mytiliculture, organised by the Universidad Santo Tomás (UST), was held at the Enjoy events hall in Castro. This event relied on simultaneous interpretation in English and Spanish, provided by interpreters Daniela Barraza and Francisca Castro, along with the operation of LiveVoice by Milena Bahamonde. The seminar represented a valuable opportunity to delve into innovative solutions for circular shell waste management and sustainability in seed collection. Topics such as the ecological status of Mitilus chilensis banks and sustainability in mussel seed collection were addressed. During the event, leading national and international researchers participated and conducted open dialogues, including representatives from Centro INCAR, Universidad Santo Tomás, and Universidad Católica del Norte. Nelson Lagos, Bernardo Broitman, and Begoña Pesceno were among the outstanding researchers. The seminar programme included a morning day dedicated to the circular management of shell waste, and an afternoon day focused on the sustainability of seed collection.
